     Fire District 9 responded to assist Fire District 8 in Ashland with a reported structure fire. Fire units from District 8, District 9, Bienville, and Red River responded along with the Natchitoches Sheriff’s Office. The structure was fully engulfed with flame and was a total loss.

     Fire District 9 wants to remind everyone in the summer months to be extremely aware and cautious with outdoor burning, cookouts, and operating equipment such as air conditioning units, electrical wiring, etc. In the last few weeks the call volumes has steadily increased due to downed power lines, grass fires, dumpster fires, and structure fires. Please be cautious and careful in the elevated temperatures.
