This training (RIT) Rapid Intervention Team, is designed to teach firefighters the necessary fundamentals to rescue a downed firefighter. The firefighter also learns the importance of bunker gear, rescue techniques, and firefighter survival. The class consisted of 2 days, including a skills protective utilizing an 18-wheeler that had been fitted with various internal compartments, obstacles, that the firefighter must navigate through and locate and disentangle a downed firefighter, all with full bunker gear and a smoke filled environment.
